Along with Feature Update #8, Phase One has also announced the 80mm LS f/2.8 Mark II for the XF camera system, an update to the long running 50mm equivalent “normal” lens. The original 80mm Mark I developed a positive reputation for being relatively small, lightweight, and exceptionally sharp. The 80mm Mark II builds on the reputation by improving vignette performance as well as optical upgrades.
The new 80mm LS f/2.8 Mark II is part of a 2nd wave of Phase One Blue Ring lens releases, including the 45mm LS f/3.5, 150mm f/2.8 LS IF, and 35mm LS f/3.5. The new 80mm is slightly larger than its predecessor, and features an extra stop at f/32, opposed to the Mark I’s minimum aperture of f/22.
